Kamchia Beach is among the most beautiful on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. I especially like it for its wide, open space and the striking scenery—an expansive bay, sand dunes covered with drought-resistant plants, and a lush green forest as a backdrop.

The Kamchia River is one of the largest in Bulgaria. It flows into the Black Sea through an estuary-like, funnel-shaped mouth. Around the mouth of the Kamchia River there is abundant vegetation and a longos forest, which is a nature reserve and protected area. In general, longos forests are quite rare for moderate latitudes, but there is one place in the world where they are surprisingly common. Which one is it? Of course, Bulgaria!
In particular, the longos forests along the Kamchia River are among the northernmost in Europe. Another interesting thing about them is that they are located on the bird migration route between Europe and Africa.
Let’s clarify: longos means dense marshy coastal forest.

Right where the Kamchia River flows into the sea, Kamchia Beach is located – without concrete, without many restaurants and without huge hotels to crowd it. It is no coincidence that the bungalow complexes right along the beach bear the names – “Romance” and “Paradise”.
This beach is part of a 13-kilometer beach strip, the longest in Bulgaria, with numerous dunes overgrown with drought-loving herbaceous plants, reaching all the way to Shkorpilovtsi. You can enjoy great sunrises and sunsets on the beach.

In the forests not far from the beach is a separate seaside resort with hotels, bungalows, shops and restaurants.
Where is Kamchia Beach

Coordinates: 43.023389, 27.888908
Access: by car
And more
In the area you can take a boat or a pedal boat along the Kamchia river. The boats leave from the central part of the resort complex. Pedal boats are also rented there. You can also go kayaking. But be careful: there are a lot of mosquitoes around the river, especially in the evening, so take the necessary precautions!
